Marron Dystini is a unique character in Game of Fate. She is a distant relative of Fate Dystini, a witch trapped in time, and inherits a special ability that Fate planted into her destiny. Since the day of her birth, Marron has had defective empathy; rather than feeling emotions, Marron can see and hear them. This has led to her being able to see the hearts of those who refuse to pass on ( "ghosts" ) and emotions imprinted in a place ( "unaware ghosts / residual hauntings" ). Similarly, Marron can hear emotions left behind by strong outbursts; screams, cries, and laughs that seemingly have no owner. On top of this, Marron is genetically capable of magic and is Fate's messenger, so has inherited and developed a number of abilities to assist her with her goals.

Summarizing her powers & abilities;

Defective Empathy→
Most "witches" in Marron's world have empathy. It allows them to feel emotions around them as they are expressed in "waves". For a normal witch, empathy lets them experience the feelings of others from a distance.

This is not the case with Marron. While it's true that Marron does have empathy she does not "feel" emotions. Instead, Marron sees them. Rather than feel the waves she can see them. When asked to describe how she can tell one emotion from another, Marron would simply say that she just knows. She's lived with the ability long enough to distinguish subtle changes in the waves that tip her off to what feeling it is.

Marron can also "hear" emotions; this gives her very mild ESP, as she's able to vaguely hear what people are thinking. She does not usually hear words but instead hears mumbles. Angry mumbles, sad mumbles, sobs, screams, laughter... she can pick up on this mental sounds. A very strong feeling may be heard with a few words for phrases. For example, Marron passes a serial killer in the street at one point and can hear the intent to "KILL KILL KILL".

The emotions that Marron experiences do not have to happen in the present either. She can see feelings that have clung to objects or places due to emotional outbursts or severe trauma. This allows Marron to see residual hauntings; ghosts that imprint their traumatic deaths on a location and relive it over and over. She can also see and communicate with ghosts--- or as they are in her world, souls that have stayed behind on Earth. She can see them due to their feelings and hear their voices. This is how she can communicate with Fate, even if Fate is stuck in the past.

Eyes of Fate→
This ability only applies to places where she is with Fate. Fate is able to temporarily give Marron the ability to see and hear what she hears. This takes a lot of concentration on Marron's part, as she has to balance two viewpoints at once. Her human brain isn't quite prepared to interpret two scenes at once so she will usually close her eyes to focus on what Fate is seeing. This can make her quite vulnerable.

Marron can also do the same for Fate, though it is Fate that has to activate the connection.

Magic→
Marron is a witch so it therefore capable of magic. Her potential for magic is decent; at 100% power Marron is capable of leveling a city with a single explosion. However, she is only at Level Three and can therefore only tap into 50% of her total power. She remains at 50% for the entire series and won her title in the Title Competition when she was 13 years old. At 50% power, Marron could perhaps bring down a skyscraper. The typical price for her magic is friendship; Marron becomes physically ill when she gets too close to someone.

However, Marron does not often use her magic. The price of her magic is constant, so she will only run a fever when around friends. She's fine with this and tries to hide it. Marron works with Fate so that she can erase the price of her magic and be able to bring her friends miracles and still be by their side.

Guns→
It's in her journal name, you know.
Rather than use magic directly, Marron has trained herself to use basic firearms. She's been training since she was twelve, with Fate's help in sneaking her way to shooting ranges and using her magic to get what she needs. Marron's weapons are licensed with the MASQ because they're actually her magical device. She can cast spells through the gun and fire magic in the place of bullets. Marron can also trap spells into her gun before hand and cheat the magic system a bit; the magic is unimportant to her at the time, so she can put more than her 50% limit into a single bullet and pay only a tiny price. Then she can fire them in any situation and have the price pre-paid.

She's also trained herself to use regular ammo. For a girl her age, Marron is pretty physically fit and doesn't suffer much from the recoil of firing a gun. Her policy is that she cannot allow herself to use her weapons if she has not trained properly. Marron tries to practice two or three times a week and refuses to fire her weapon if she's missed a practice session. She has a senpai who assists her.

Mild Self-Healing→
When injured, Marron's body automatically uses some spare magic in reserve to heal her. Scraps and bruises will heal in only around twelve hours and major injuries take only a fraction of the regular time to heal. This ability is automatic and she cannot use it on other people.
